Ordering Information

If in looking through the gallery you have found a photograph that especially appeals, and you’d like to acquire a print, I’ll explain how that’s possible. Rather than selling my photographs, I have chosen to offer a way that’s more satisfying for me and I trust will be for you as well. I call it my “Donation for a Print Exchange”. It allows us together to help make a lasting difference in the lives of others through some wonderful charities. Your donation is what qualifies you to receive a print. After choosing the print size you would like and corresponding donation value from the information below, you can select from the charities page the organization to which you wish to make your donation. Using the links provided on that page you can make your contribution directly to that charity. You should then receive a donation confirmation email from the organization shortly thereafter. Please forward this email to truelightgallery@shaw.ca along with the following information:

- Your name and shipping address
- The title of the print you wish to have
- The print size
- Any further comments you wish to add

I will then send you a PayPal invoice with the details of your print order along with the the cost for shipping. You can pay for this directly through the link on the invoice using either your credit or debit card. You do not need a Paypal account to make this payment. I will then ship your print. Please note that having you make the contribution to the charity assures that you will also receive a tax deductible receipt for your donation. I hope you will find this to be a satisfying way to both give and receive at the same time. All prints are made to order by me personally. Making, drying and curing of prints, as well as packing for shipment all require some time. Therefore I will ask for your patience in allowing 2 to 3 weeks before shipping under normal circumstances. If I’m away, either photographing or for another reason, the time will necessarily be longer. If you find any of this explanation unclear or have any other questions you would like to ask, feel free to email me.

Print Sizes
The dimensions listed here are for the image size and then the overall paper size. They are approximate and may vary due to the different compositional proportions of individual photographs. In other words, some images are closer to being square while others are more rectangular. Also note that not all images in the gallery are available in the larger sizes. This can be for both esthetic and technical reasons. For instance some subject matter appears best when left in a more intimate size, thus encouraging the viewer to draw close, while others (perhaps with more fine detail) can work well in a larger scale. Then on other occasions the resolution of the film or digital capture and visual sharpness of the image make the determination. Each photograph’s possible range of sizes is listed as you look through the image gallery and then scroll down below the description. For further information on the prints themselves please refer to the About Prints page.

Shipping Costs

I prefer to ship my prints flat rather than in mailing tubes. This insures that it arrives in the best possible condition and ready for mounting and framing. Although this increases shipping costs somewhat, I believe it is befitting for a fine print on premium art paper. The cost for shipping will of course vary with destination. Below is a list of approximate costs in Canadian dollars for the different sizes of prints across North America. Shipping is handled by Canada Post or UPS depending on size and destination. Any duties and taxes for cross border shipping is the responsibility of the recipient. However my understanding is that a photograph is considered duty free between Canada and the United States. Shipping destinations outside of North America will need to be dealt with on a individual basis. If you wish to enquire about the final shipping costs before proceeding with an order, or have any other questions, please feel free to email me.

It's probably fair to say that we live in an age of spectacle today, perhaps greater than any other time in human history.
Ever heard the old adage - the camera doesn’t lie…  Well here’s the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
To Be or Not to Be....some thoughts on choosing b&w or colour.  Starting out as a landscape photographer I worked exclusively with colour film. I had played around a bit with black and white previously, learning the basics of developing and printing for myself. But ironically, it was while taking a course in Dye Transfer colour printing at the University of Calgary, that my passion for b&w was awakened.
I’m sure most of you have heard the expression, “the more things change, the more they stay the same”. Well at the beginning of my photographic journey...
